PRESS RELEASE
REEDSVILLE, PA – Kish Bank is honored to announce five awardees of the inaugural Bill and Ruth Brindel Scholarships for 2024. The Bill and Ruth Brindel Scholarship Fund is available to qualified graduating seniors of high schools in Mifflin County, with Kish Bank’s Trust team overseeing the awarding of funds as designated trustee of the Fund. A maximum of $20,000 in scholarship funds will be awarded to the following local graduates:
Announced earlier this year, the Bill and Ruth Brindel Scholarship commemorates the lives of the Mifflin County couple who owned Brindel’s Hardware in Reedsville from 1946 until 1985. Mr. Brindel, a graduate of Burnham High School, was a U.S. Army Air Corps veteran of World War II and served on the board of directors of Kish Bank from 1968 until his retirement in 1990. During this time, he served several terms as chairman of the board. Bill Brindel passed away in 2017 and Ruth in 2020.
The 2024 recipients selected by the Kish Bank Trust team were chosen based on their academic standings, extra-curricular participation, volunteer engagement, and leadership roles. Once awarded, scholarship recipients must remain enrolled with a B average or greater at an accredited college, university, trade school, or technical school.
